Natural Benefits of Papaya

Mom always made me eat cut up papayas as a child, I've grown up so naturally its now my brothers turn to be forced into eating papaya as well... Now I understand why she put so much emphasis on eating this fruit first thing in the mornings on an empty stomach with a glass of water... Somehow somewhere along the lines the people in my country figured out that the Papaya fruit serves as a natural home remedy... Hmm, go figure... As it turns out this crazy looking fruit is packed high with vitamin C, vitamin A, potassium, calcium and B complex vitamins making this awesome fruit a powerful source for ailment relief like ringworm infections and other parasites, relieves stomach aches and it's anti-inflammatory... Yeah, who needs Pepto Bismol when u have papaya? Another wonderful thing about Papaya is because of the high potency of Vitamin A and C it has the ability to rid our bodies of free radicals as well as acting as a booster to our immune system and metabolism, keeping our mucus membrane, skin and sight in healthy conditions as well as keeping us youthful... Pretty cool stuff.

Mindless & Mindful Eating

With the rise of obesity in the American population it's no wonder it has become a nationwide health concern for the public causing many studies and research as to why the sudden surge of weight gain, some studies claiming its the lack or decline of physical activity others suggesting that its all about portion control... while this may all be true and both spectrum giving vital information its a no brainer that both portion control as well as increasing daily activities do go hand in hand and play a vital role in daily physical evolution of the human body in terms of everyday life... be that as it may it is important to figure and understand some of the things that trigger us causing us to over eat, starting with:

  • Learning what size your plate should be

because the typical plate size in the United States is between 11-13 inches we are significantly increasing our portions and calories, which according to Dietitians-Online, an 11inch plate can hold up to or about 1,600 which is about a 30% increase in calories compared to a 10inch plate, when really our plates should only be able to hold up or about 800 calories considering we should be eating out of 9inch plates.

What your typical meal should look like: (according to onemedical.com)

but instead a typical American meal might looks a little something like this...

             Knowing Mindful and Mindless eating

Eat until you are 80 percent full if you have no idea what that even feels like basically once you begin to feel any stomach pressure then you are at the "80 percent full" stage or eat until you are no longer hungry, instead of eating until you realize you are full.
Most people are used to eating until they realize they are full, which is past satiation because the brain actually needs about 20 minutes to receive the "I'm full signal".
Another thing is to disconnect yourself from your distractions and tune into your plate... when you concentrate on your food you tend to enjoy it more and are more likely to chew more thoroughly than you would have had you been disconnected from your plate which is an added bonus simply because since digestion starts at the mouth properly chewed food means less work for your digestive system.

            Contagious Eating Habits
its a no brainer that we can easily be influenced and are more likely to do the same and be into the same things that our friends do so if you have friends that consume soft drinks and fast food its likely that you also have a higher intake of the same foods, just as people with friends that opt for healthier choices are more likely to go for healthier alternatives.

Fitness Fact of The Day!!

When You warm up your muscles, you produce heat in your tissues, heat allows oxygen to unbind from hemoglobin to be delivered to the muscles being worked, the more oxygen you have unbinding, the more the hemoglobin molecules will bind to, thus getting rid of the unneeded CO2 and waste that generally cause muscle tightness, soreness or other types of dysfunctions (Muscle recovery/DOMS *Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness: basically the pain and stiffness you feel 24-72hrs after a strenuous or "new" workout) getting rid of CO2 and other toxins increases blood flow which in turn increases performance, function and recovery.=)

**This is why it is important to warm up...  A smart warm-up leads to a proficient workout.

Dear Hard work...

Dear Hard Work
I used to hate you, you used to call my name I heard but ran away from you. When I knew you were coming I used to hide from you.
When you influenced others to talk to me, I quickly made excuses to get away from you.
Afraid of the pain because I didn't wanna get hurt.
Afraid to fail, so I didn't even try,
and afraid of your name because of what you've done to others.
Who do you think you are, make me so afraid of who you are?
Reflection in the mirror, shadow behind me, I take one step and you're still ahead of me.
Sweat in my face, tears in my eyes, I keep on going,
I heard you tell no lies...
You turn the rich to poor, turn F's to A's...
Is there anything you can't do?
Now look at me, you've made me who I am today,
because of you, I have this never losing, never giving up attitude.
Quiting, that's not in my vocabulary.
When they quit, I keep going, when they sleep, I work harder.
When they say that I can't and count me out, I show them I can.
When I tell them about my dreams and they laugh, I make sure I laugh last.

I'm a dream chaser,
that means I chase my dreams, and no one elses.
Only I can defeat me, it's me against this work you put on me.
There's no losing...
I will not lose.
I came this far, and I'm not stopping now.
Oh hard work, my dad was right about you, you do pay off,
because of that I love you.
How can I not?
I'm no longer hiding from you,
I'm waiting for you.
Matter of fact, where are you?
I need you, because in hard work, I trust.
